Language of less

A 2005 art pice made in Perth, Australia. My favorite artwork for many years, that take its own measure, a measure of its place. I take impulses from spatial relations and social systems, it has no boundaries. A space within a space that proclaims its social function, a space we cannot enter. Like transparency in architecture, a contradictory camouflage, an illusion of absolute openness, sexual abstinence, strict equality and collective morality. All the things in our society is organized in some terms of simple permutations. Its a moment of amazement when turning the audience into the public display, a new way of seeing, and to understand the building itself as a medium. I have a great interest in architecture and architectural codes. My attitude to material is central and determines its own language. I like the fact that you can purchase the materials in any hardware store, and anyone can make them. I also liked the idea, that after display they could be used for anything else, and have no value as art.
